Unley Oval was a perfect setting for visiting AFL teams ahead of the recent inaugural Gather Round, and on Saturday 15 April, Collingwood football fans got to see and meet their sporting heroes when they practiced drills in their 'Captain's Run' ahead of their Sunday match against St Kilda at Adelaide Oval.
The Gather Round has proved such a success that South Australia will now host the event for the next three years until 2026.
Both the Carlton and Collingwood football clubs appreciated the invitation by Sturt FC and the excellent facility that Unley Oval proved for their warm-up, along with the opportunity to meet some of the hundreds of supporters who came to the venue.
The photos shows previous Sturt player - now Collingwood forward - Ash Johnson with Sturt CEO Sue Dewing and Mayor Michael Hewitson.
