Conceived in 2022 by author Aimee Chan, Juvenilia has been seen in literary festivals, libraries and galleries across Victoria, New South Wales, and Canberra.

The term 'juvenilia' refers to work produced by an author or illustrator as a child and it comes alive in this extraordinary exhibition, which will appeal to all ages - and this is your only chance to see it in South Australia, so it's very special that we get to host it in our city, and in Unley Civic Library!

The exhibition is a collection of more than 100 pieces from over twenty of Australia’s most loved and award-winning children’s authors and illustrators. Many exhibits on display are original pieces, some dating back over fifty years.

Included in the exhibition are the creative ideas of two former Australian Children’s Laureates (Alison Lester and Ursula Dubosarsky) as well as favourites from well-known writers or artists Andy Griffiths, Graeme Base, Danny Katz, and Hazel Edwards.

Young attendees will discover what it means to be creative in words and pictures, and adults and aspiring children’s authors can learn about the creative processes involved in writing for young audiences and how to get published in our Creatives Showcases on Saturday 22 June.

The City of Unley is thrilled to be the exclusive SA host of this exhibition, which will be open the public at Unley Civic Library during normal opening hours from Tuesday 18 June. The exhibition runs until Thursday 11 July.
