Unley Oval Fence Investigation

Unley Oval is more than just a sporting ground—it's a beloved community hub nestled in the heart of the City of Unley. It's where SANFL, cricket, lawn tennis, and lawn bowls teams thrive, and where local schools, families, walkers, and dog owners come together. Whether you’re there for the playground, a casual game, a walk, or a celebration, Unley Oval brings us all together.

The Council is currently investigating the feasibility of installing a permanent perimeter fence with public access openings around Unley Oval. As part of this process, we are committed to undertaking a co-design process with the community to enable Council to make an informed decision.

Your input is crucial! We are interested in understanding:

  • Whether you support the installation of a permanent perimeter fence.

  • Any concerns you might have about a fence.

  • How a fence might benefit the Unley community.

You can join the conversation about a perimeter fence at Unley Oval by:

  • Completing an Online Survey to share your thoughts.

  • Attending Drop-In Sessions at Unley Oval to discuss your views with Council staff on:

    • Wednesday 24 July, 10am – 12noon
    • Thursday 25 July, 4.30 – 6.30pm
    • Sunday 28 July, 10am – 12noon

The Council is aware of the great interest this proposal has amongst the community- some in support and some against. This has led to speculation about what is proposed, and in some cases, misinformation being spread.
