Unley Oval became magnet for hundreds of local football fans when Carlton Football Club accepted an offer by Sturt FC to appear in a brief training session on Wednesday 12 April, ahead of the club's clash with the Adelaide Crows on Thursday 13 April. Unley hosted the popular AFL club, welcoming them to the new Oval facility, and footballers stayed to greet supporters and sign autographs for hundreds in the crowd.

Marking a memorable occasion in a new concept in football history, the inaugural Gather Round sees all interstate clubs play games at various locations in our state over four days.

Collingwood Football Club has also accepted an invitation to come to Unley Oval on Saturday morning 15 April for their Captain's Run from 10.30am, ahead of their Sunday match with St Kilda at Adelaide Oval. Everyone is welcome to come to this open session at Unley Oval to see their football heroes in person.

Please be aware that parking around the nearby streets will be in demand, and we ask that you restrict vehicle speeds, be mindful of pedestrians and considerate of local residents.
