City of Unley announces resignation of Councillor Hart

The City of Unley announces the resignation of Cr Georgie Hart. Effective from 14 October 2024, Cr Hart has decided to step down from her position as Councillor for Goodwood ward, commencing the required two-week notice period from 30 September 2024.
In a personal statement, Cr Hart shared that the decision was made after much reflection, noting "I have made this decision in the best interests of both my family and my wellbeing. It was not an easy choice, but it is the right one at this time."
Throughout her two-year term on Council, Cr Hart has been a passionate advocate for social justice, community and cultural services, environmental sustainability, proactive community climate action and enhancing the city's resilience to climate change. She has played a key role in facilitating the enhanced service offering at Goodwood Community Centre and Goodwood Toy Library and initiatives to improve biodiversity and waste management practices within the City of Unley.
Mayor Michael Hewitson acknowledged Cr Hart's contributions, saying, "Cr Hart has been a valuable member of the Council and a wonderful representative of her community. We are grateful for her service and wish her all the very best in her future endeavours."
Cr Hart conveyed her heartfelt thanks to her fellow Councillors and the Unley community for their support throughout her term. She expressed confidence in the Council's continued success and its ongoing commitment to serving the residents of Unley.
Looking ahead, the City of Unley will conduct a supplementary election to fill the casual vacancy in accordance with local government regulations. Further information regarding the election process and timeline will be communicated to residents as it becomes available.
