We are seeking your feedback on Australia Day events in the City of Unley in 2025.
In compliance with the Australian Citizenship Ceremonies Code, Councils are required to hold a Citizenship Ceremony on Australia Day, or within three days before or after. This ceremony is a significant milestone where individuals pledge their commitment to Australia’s democratic values and respect for the rights and liberties of its citizens.
Traditionally, the City of Unley incorporates the Citizen of the Year Awards (aka Australia Day Awards) into this ceremony. In 2024, this event was held on January 25th.
As we plan for the year ahead, we are interested in gathering the community's feedback around whether the City of Unley should host the January Australian Citizenship Ceremony and Citizen of the Year Awards on 26 January 2025.
We would also like your feedback on whether we should have an Australia Day community event in 2025, and if so, when?
