The books in Let’s Talk Periods are a mix of fiction, essay anthologies and non-fiction titles that explore the emotional, practical, cultural and scientific ins and outs of periods. Most of these titles look at the topic specifically from the experience of cisgender girls but a few titles including Welcome to Your Period: Your easy, no-dumb-questions guide to handling it like a boss and Period: Twelve Voices Tell the Bloody Truth do explore the topic in a broader, more inclusive way to support all young people who have periods. There are also many great online resources for trans, nonbinary and gnc young people (and their parents!) who want to know more about what to expect when they get their period. The Autism-Friendly Guide to Periods is another inclusive title that covers the topic with a specific focus on the emotional, sensory and practical challenges that might impact young neurodivergent people.
