Connect and play

October 2024

We all want to connect with our children and help them learn, gaining great experiences along the way. Incorporating Words Grow Minds, Unley Toy Libraries and Clarence Park Community Centre have come together to offer our community some opportunities to access tools, ideas, information and an activity program to help enable some of these experiences between you and your child.

Words Grow Minds

Words Grows Minds is a statewide campaign encouraging families to talk, read, sing and play with their child. Research shows that the simple everyday interactions families have with their child literally grow their brains in the critical early years. With up to 85% of brain development occurring in the first three years of life, it is important that parents and caregivers are equipped with the tools and information to support children to thrive from the beginning.

Funded by the Government of South Australia, Words Grow Minds supports services providers to educate families on the importance of talking, reading, singing and playing with their child. The campaign covers a range of elements including a free resource pack for families, professional learning for educators and service providers as well as a strong media presence that includes tips and information for families.
