Profound and moving words from @shereadsandsheloves about the power of books and the return of libraries over on Instagram...

When the libraries closed I was devastated. Not because I needed more books at home to read, but because it meant that so many people wouldn’t have access to the books they needed. Books heal us, guide us & encourage us to explore new places and new ways of thinking.

When the world around us is too heavy, too sad, too much - we have books to lift us up & carry us away.
One of my biggest fears is that my children won’t learn to love books as much as I do. That they won’t love the feeling of curling up on the couch with a new book, or snuggling up in bed and being transported to somewhere far, far away. I still remember the first book that made me cry when I finished it, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the characters or the story. So I read it over & over again until a new book came along...& probably had the same effect. But, you always remember your first.
Today I am absolutely so excited to be going back to my local library today. I’ll be collecting books for everyone in my home - to read, share & cherish.
Thank you @unleylibraries & #librariessaonecard ❤️✨
