GRANDFriends - a program for young and old

The successful ABC series showed how two quite different age groups have much more in common than they realise. Intergenerational programs have a positive influence on people’s mental and physical health and enrich the quality of personal connections and relationships.

Unley’s own intergenerational program ‘GRANDFriends’ will run over five sessions for about 2 hours per fortnight. Each session centres around a different activity such as cooking, recreation and sport, art, and dancing.

The program's focus is on older adults aged 65+ years and teenagers in Grades 7 and 8, and is all about having fun, learning new skills, and building friendships.

GRANDFriends will commence at 4.30pm on Wednesday 20th September 2023 with a shared dinner at Unley Oval to launch the program and enable participants to get to know each other.

If you are interested in participating, please register here via Eventbrite.

GRANDFriends is supported by funding from the SA Government's Office for Ageing Well through the Age Friendly SA Grants, and by Lifechanger, an organisation promoting positive mental health and welfare of young people. Photo courtesy of ABC's 'Old People's Home for Teenagers'.
