Pool Safety
We pride ourselves on keeping everyone safe, but we need your help in doing so. The Unley swimming centre is fully monitored by qualified lifeguards at all times, but please remember that they are not 'child minders'. The Unley Swimming Centre is a 'Watch Around Water' endorsed centre.

Pool supervision guidelines
Recent changes to the Guidelines For Safe Pool Operations (GSPO) have highlighted the supervision ratios for parents / caregivers whilst supervising children at the Centre.
It is important to understand what this means and how it may affect you when visiting the pool. From November 1 2019, families and groups exceeding the following ratios cannot be permitted entry.
Children Under 5 (0 - 4 years of age)
1 adult for every 2 children aged 0-4 years (this ratio includes babies in prams)
All children 0-4 years of age MUST be accompanied in the water at all times by a parent/caregiver.
Children Under 10 (5 - 9 years of age)
1 adult for every 4 children aged 5-9 years
All children 5-9 years of age MUST be ACTIVELY SUPERVISED at all times by a parent/caregiver.
Combination Ratio
1 adult for every 1 child aged 0-4 and 3 children aged 5-9.
As an example, One adult can accompany a maximum of 1 child (aged up to 4 years) and 3 children ( between 5 and 9 years of age).
Additional adults are then required if there are more children.
