Dr Jack Gaffey lives in Myrtle Bank with his wife Angela and 3 daughters. He has worked as a dentist for the last 17 years in partnership with Angela in Cumberland Park. Dr Jack is a former president of the ADA (SA). He is a board member of Triathlon SA and competes in triathlons locally and overseas.
Jack is passionate about Unley and wants to see it thrive for future generations. He joined council out of a belief that we should all try to help others where we can; simple acts of volunteering help improve our local area. He loves his work as a councillor to help ward residents get the most from their local council. It is just another way to serve the community.
Dr Jack will use his small business experience and MBA to help refine council expenditure. He believes it is important to ensure our council is efficient with money from council rates. With increasing inflation rates, it is vital that keep rate rises below inflation.
Dr Gaffey supports councils plan to preserve our community’s tree canopy and believes we should encourage the design of new housing developments to maintain space for large trees. His longer term vision is develop a 30-year council plan to move powerlines underground which will have the reduce tree pruning. Local improvements could be achieved with small projects such as improving our local parks with better seating for retired citizens, more bottle refill stations and a structured plan to upgrade children’s play equipment.
Jack has set aside Fridays to work with local residents, if you have concerns and wish to have a chat, this is the time when he isn’t filling teeth.
