Apply for a Temporary Caravan / Trailer Parking Permit

If you require a short-term parking permit on a residential street for a long or heavy vehicle such as a caravan, trailer or boat to park for more than 1 hour, you will need a Temporary Caravan / Trailer Exemption Permit.

This permit allows residents to park designated vehicles for up to 5 days, providing an exemption to Australian Road Rule 200 (2 and 2a).

Australian Road Rule 200 (2 and 2a) states that the driver of a heavy or long vehicle, must not stop on a length of road in a built-up area for longer than 1 hour, unless the vehicle is stopped and the driver is engaged in dropping off, or picking up, goods. A heavy or long vehicle is defined as 7.5m or longer in length or 4.5 tonnes in weight.

A Temporary Caravan / Trailer Parking Permit is valid for a maximum of 5 days (including weekends and public holidays) and does not guarantee a space to park in the street for which the permit is issued.
