Apply for a Mobility Access Parking Permit

Residents in the City of Unley with accessibility or mobility needs may be eligible for a Mobility Access Parking Permit and zone to be installed directly in front of their property if they live in properties without off-street parking, or where the off-street parking is unsuitable for safely accessing their residence.

The Mobility Access Permit is transferable, meaning it is not issued to a specific vehicle registration.

Check your eligibility 

To be eligible for a Mobility Access Parking Permit and zone you need to meet all the conditions listed below:

  • There is no publicly available Accessibility Parking Zone within 50 metres of your property. 
  • You have a valid state government Disability Parking Permit. 
  • You own a motor vehicle that is registered to your property. 
  • You can adequately demonstrate that the property is without off-street parking, or, that your existing off-street parking is unsuitable for safely accessing your residence. The latter requires a letter of support from your medical practitioner.
  • There is enough kerbside space adjacent to your property to accommodate a zone (a minimum length of 6 metres is required).
  • Driveway access or kerb ramp located within a distance less than 10 metres is available to ensure safe access to the footpath from the street. 

 

How to apply 

To apply for a Mobility Access Parking Permit and zone, you must provide evidence with your application to support that: 

  • you live in the property 
  • you have a valid state government Disability Parking Permit
  • you own a motor vehicle and it is registered to the property
  • your property is without off-street parking, or, that your existing off-street parking is unsuitable for safe access to your residence (the latter requires a letter of support from your medical practitioner).

What happens next

We will assess your application and notify you of the outcome. We will contact you if we have a query regarding your application or require further information.

If your permit is approved, we will send you notification of the pending approval along with an invoice for payment. Payment can be made online, by phone or at the Civic Centre.

Once payment is received in full, we will arrange to install the appropriate parking signs in front of your property and your permit will be mailed to you.
